The biggest skateboard competition the Northern Beaches has ever seen is about to go down at Mona Vale Skate Park in late November.

Presented by fresh Mexican grill, Mad Mex, #MadForMona Skate Jam is the first major competition to be held at the newly opened Mona Vale Skate Park and will include both street and vert ramp competitions. Age divisions for the street jam are Under 12s, Under 15s and Open while the vert ramp will be broken into U14s and an Open division.

Skaters are registering from far and wide to compete on what has been heralded as a “world class facility” by pro skater Shane Azar. Competitors will be going loco and throwing down the sickest tricks in an effort to take their share of the $3750 cash prize pool.

Supported by Boarders in Manly, Volcom and the Northern Beaches Council, #MadForMona will also showcase live street art, music, free food, product giveaways and much more.

The event will be held on November 27, 2016 with competition beginning at 10am sharp and registrations for competitors at 9am.

Speaking of their association with the event, Mad Mex’s head of marketing Gaye Steel said, “Mad Mex is delighted to present #MadForMona. Skateboarding is part of the 2020 Olympics and skaters are always in store enjoying the fresh, healthy flavours of our burritos and tacos.

“The new 1800 square metre Skate Park at Mona Vale’s Kitchener Park is one of Australia’s newest and best venues for skateboarders. It’s a great pleasure to enable such a big day for the community and encourage a healthy and fun outdoor lifestyle that aligns with our roots of being a restaurant chain inspired by the food of coastal Baja-California.”
